Those who have tired of the high-gloss, metal-heavy aesthetic that has dominated the kitchen and bath world in recent years might be interested in Bornholm Kitchen, a new company on Long Island that makes kitchen and bath pieces with a fine-furniture aesthetic.
The designs are Scandinavian-inspired but handmade in the United States, out of high-grade walnut or rift oak wood, and they all have exposed mortise-and-tenon joinery. (The vanity above, made of rift oak, is 32 inches high and 36 inches wide, and sells for $5,200.)
The first store is set to open in Sag Harbor, N.Y., this summer, but the line is available to order now. Information: (631) 754-0464 or bornholmkitchen.com.
